In 2018, Paul embarked on a coaching journey after years fighting professionally, he wanted to share his knowledge. He started coaching at a local gym where he crossed paths with Jessie—an individual passionate about Muay Thai for fitness rather than competition. Paul could see her potential and trained her for her first fight. Jessie is now considered one of the best female 66kg-69kg fighters in Australia, holding 9 championship belts.
In December 2021, fueled by their shared vision for growth and excellence, Paul and his wife Frankie took a leap of faith and established Pretty Muay Thai. With a commitment to providing top-notch training and fostering a welcoming community, the gym experienced rapid growth, prompting the addition of boxing classes to cater to a diverse range of interests.
In January 2023, recognizing the growing demand for martial arts training, Paul and Frankie expanded their gym's space to introduce wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This expansion also marked a pivotal moment as they rebranded the gym to Pretty Top Team, reflecting the new disciplines they'd added to their schedule.
In just nine months, they outgrew the space... again. So expansion number 2 started in November 2023.
Pretty Top Team emerged as the fastest-growing gym in Cairns, renowned for its inclusive environment and diverse community. With equal representation of males and females on the mats and individuals from all walks of life training together, Pretty stands out as a beacon of diversity and inclusion in the martial arts world.
Central to Pretty Top Team's success is their structured beginners programs, ensuring that everyone—regardless of experience level—has the opportunity to thrive and enjoy the benefits of combat sports. Through their dedication, Paul, Frankie, and the entire team have created a hub for martial arts enthusiasts, producing champions and fostering a sense of camaraderie that extends beyond the gym walls.
