Boxing and Muay
Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be fit to join?

Absolutely not! Our classes are a great form of cardio, but you have fun while you're doing it!

I've never done any martial arts; can I join?

Beginners are our jam! Our Head Coach/Owner Paul Hosking has developed his own systems and methods to teach beginners in a way that everyone understands. Our classes are structured and fun. In fact, all of our fighters including our state champions, started off as beginners with Paul.

We recommend you check out our beginners Muay Thai classes here

What do I bring to my first class?

Wear comfortable work out clothing such as shorts and a t-shirt. Bring a pair of boxing gloves if you own them, if not we have some you can hire.

If you're attending boxing then please wear running shoes or boxing boots (if you own them). Don't forget a water bottle!

Do you allow visitors to train in your classes?

Do you offer kids classes?

Will I get punched in the face?

Yes! We have drop ins and backpacker joining every week due to our great city location. If you're just passing through Cairns or here for a short while you can purchase a day or week pass. More info here.

We do! We are family owned and operated, our children train Muay Thai and Boxing.
We currently offer classes for children from just 3 years old. We are the only Muay Thai gym in Cairns to offer these classes for such a young age!

Not unless you want to! We have separated our classes as we understand everyone has different goals. Most of our members join to learn something new, have fun, or for fitness.
We have dedicated sparring classes every Friday for those who want to test their skills out on real people.

Can I have a fight?

Do you offer one-on-one sessions?

We run an extremely popular challenge called "Build A Fighter". There is no other beginners program like this in Cairns! More info here

Yes. Check out our coaches page for details on one-on-one sessions.

Will the classes get me fit?

Like all forms of exercise... you get out what you put in. If you coast through classes and don't push yourself.. no. If you are consistently showing up and giving it your all, yes!

Do I have to wear Thai shorts to train Muay Thai?

Do I have to get my own gloves?

Would you wear Thai shorts to play footy? No. That would be weird... so why wear footy shorts to Muay Thai!

It's not compulsory to our beginners classes but once you put a pair on you'll realise why people love them! They're breathable, stretchy and super comfortable. They are designed exactly for the movements you will be doing.

The answer to this is pretty similar to the question before. Gloves are an essential part of your training gear. We have some you can hire but we strongly encourage you to get your own for hygiene reason. We have basic Sting gloves for sale at the gym for $50 adults or $45 for children.
