June 2026 Recap - Another Huge Month at Pretty Top Team

June was packed from start to finish, with our members representing Pretty Top Team across multiple Muay Thai and Boxing events, welcoming a brand-new Build A Fighter intake, and our Build A Boxer crew counting down to their first fights. Here's what we've been up to.

SparBQ #6 - Building the Combat Sports Community

On Saturday 6 June we hosted another successful SparBQ through the Combat Sports Association Inc. It was fantastic to see the fight community come together in a safe, supportive environment focused on development.

Across the day we matched 26 boxing and Muay Thai sparring bouts, giving athletes valuable experience without the pressure of competition. We were also joined by the Grounded Mat Sports team, who stepped into the ring for some invaluable striking experience and embraced the opportunity with great attitudes.

Events like SparBQ are exactly why the Combat Sports Association exists - to provide affordable opportunities for athletes to learn, develop and strengthen the combat sports community here in Far North Queensland.

Dojo Storm Success

A week later, our Muay Thai fight team team travelled to Dojo Storm and continued building valuable experience.

Results included:

• Jaxon - 2 wins

• Kai - 2 wins

• Kaiki - 2 wins

• Tyler - 2 hard-fought losses

While wins are always nice, we're just as proud of the experience our athletes gain every time they step onto the mats.

Five Gold Medals at Golden Gloves

The final weekend of June saw eight Pretty Top Team boxers compete at the Golden Gloves tournament.

Cam unfortunately missed out on a match, while Halia put on a fantastic exhibition against a lighter but more experienced opponent, showing plenty of heart and skill.

Our competition results included:

• Jacob - Gold

• Kaiki - Gold

• Elisha - Gold after first-round TKO victories in both his semi-final and final

• Henry - Silver

• Liyo - Silver

• D'Artagnan - Silver

Liyo and D'Artagnan both narrowly lost their opening bouts before earning wins in their second divisions after their opponents withdrew following weigh-ins.

Overall, the team finished the tournament with an outstanding five gold medals and three silver medals - an incredible effort from everyone involved.

Jessie Takes Centre Stage in Melbourne

Coach Jessie travelled to Melbourne to compete on the all-female JSMT Crown event, where she featured as the co-main event against the experienced Allegra Vickas.

Although Jessie didn't get the decision, she delivered an incredible performance in what many spectators were calling the fight of the night. We're incredibly proud of the way she represented herself, our team and Far North Queensland on such a big stage.

Built 2 Box Is Almost Here

Our Build A Boxer athletes are entering the final weeks of their challenge, with excitement building ahead of the Built 2 Box event on Saturday 4 July.

Twenty-six participants will step into the ring for either their first or second boxing bout. Watching complete beginners grow in confidence over the past few months has been incredibly rewarding, and we can't wait to see them showcase everything they've learned.

Welcome, Build A Fighter 10!

On 29 June we welcomed our newest Build A Fighter crew.

Over the next 14 weeks, this group of beginners will learn the fundamentals of Muay Thai, build confidence, improve their fitness and prepare for the Built 2 Fight showcase on Saturday 3 October.

Every experienced fighter in our gym started exactly where this group is today, and we're excited to watch their journeys unfold.
